Insanity - Week 5, Days 1 & 2

Hello Month 2!  I didn't realize that Month 1 was just kindergarten.  I thought I'd have to at least graduate grade school before you threw me right into med school.

Yeah.  You heard me.  It sucks - in a good way.

Month 2 (the beginning of Week 5) feels like Month 1 (the beginning of Week 1).  I feel like I've done nothing for the last 5 weeks but sit on my couch eating bon-bons and watching re-runs of Married With Children.
Day 1
You all know how much I hated Plyometric Cardio Circuit right?  I found a new red headed step child to hate - Max Interval Circuit.  It blows monkey chunks. And the BEST part?  The very first time you have to do it, you do it on the same day you do Month 2's first FIT TEST.  Yes, you have to do an hour long workout on the same day as a fit test.  Oh yeah, it's an hour long.  Didn't I mention that?

Half the exercises I couldn't even do more than 3 reps of.  And I never made it through a "phase".  I call each blue segment a phase.  I think of my workouts as a boss fight, so I split them into manageable phases.  That's the gamer in me coming out.  :)  Anyways, I had to continually stop to breathe or get some water.  It's definitely a killer.

Needless to say, I was hurting for Day's 2 exercise.  I think it would have been more hurty, but Coach Brandy sent me a few samples of Rest & Recovery (Smooth Orange!), so I think that's helping.  Let me tell you - the Smooth Orange Rest & recovery is freaking amazing.  They should make it a Shakeology flavor instead of the Tropical Strawberry.  It tastes like a Dreamsicle - if any of you remember those. :)

Day 2
Day 2 of Week 5 wasn't bad.  It was Max Interval Plyo, and I had assumed because of the PCC, that it would be just as hateful to me.  It wasn't THAT bad.  Day 1 was way worse.  Again today, there were some exercises I just don't have the upper body strength to do, so I modified it into something I could do.  This would be mainly push-up related exercises.  My arms are pitiful.

Knee is a bit sore now, so I'm going to go find something to ice it down with.  I also twisted my ankle weird, but it doesn't hurt much.  I should be fine tomorrow, and it was our cat Daisy's fault anyways.

Daisy is old - 15 or 16 and deaf.  We found her under our porch about 3 or 4 years ago and she decided she wanted to live with us.  She likes to lick sweat off of you (gross!) and I didn't see her come up behind me while I was jumping around like a maniac.  So, she licks my leg right as I'm about to jump, scares the crap out of me, and I stumble so I don't step on her and break all her old bones.  I of course yelled at her, but...hello, deaf cat, she can't hear me, so I had to just pick her up and put her on the back of the couch where she has commandeered my electric blanket as her own.

So, all in all, not a terrible start to Week 5.  :)

Oh, and I discovered why I was so tired all the time during Recovery Week and the end of Week 4.  ALMONDS.  They contain trytophan & magnesium, which make you very, very, very sleepy according to everything I've read.  I was eating a lot of them as snacks and such.  I have since stopped eating my almonds and I am not so damn tired anymore.  So I solved that mystery.  Gotta love Google.  :)

    1. Jacob - Good luck! I'm re-starting Insanity myself - in fact, I'm supposed to be doing it now, but I wanted to reply to you first. :) i like using the boss fight references because it helps keep me focused. I've been gaming for so long that it's easier to manage things if I can break it down into individual segments. Hehe. :)

Thank you so much for commenting, and I'm glad you enjoy the ramblings I post! :)
